In today's modern global business world there is a word that is commonly used to describe a method or way a Corporation construct is ran.

The word is "Transparent" Meaning the construct and business methods are open to their customers.

The days of Haliburton style hush hush Corporations are coming to an end thank god!

I give you my word as your CEO to always to conduct business transparently.

So here is my first transparent business post.

My Vision:

To form two corporations. 1 - Second Chance Stroke Survivors will be a nonprofit

The nonprofit corporation called Second Chance Stroke Survivors focus will focus on and will continue it's current path placing more emphasis on raising local community stroke awareness and support.

The second corporation will be Second Chance Stroke Survivors Gear. This corporation will be a for profit corporation. It will generate funds by selling shoes, printing and design services and lots more!
This for profit corporation will generate funds to cover operating costs and donate all funds needed for the nonprofit.

Within this business construct I will create an online store that will be used by members for selling products and raising their own funds to help support their family. Members will get all the profits less a small fee to cover SCSS costs.

Ideally Second Chance Stroke Survivors Gear will generate enough funds and regularly donate funds to Second Chance Stroke Survivors for the nonprofit so no Government Grants or Governmental control over Second Chance Stroke Survivors is needed.

My heart vision

To build Second Chance Stroke Survivors big enough to financially help stroke survivors and their families worldwide!

BEING REAL WITH ONES SELF STROKE SURVIVOR

Not being able to walk since my stroke September 17th 2010. I often find myself sitting in the car while Rebecca runs into the store.

I watch intently, as people  walk and move so freely, but it seems like so long ago, in another life.

I then realized they have a brain clarity I do not have at this time.

I can remember when I first had my stroke, I was so out of touch with what happened to me what a cataclysmic effect stroke had on me.

I would not let Rebeea sell my bad ass Dodge 2500 diesel truck because I'd be driving again in 6 months! Bless her awesome heart she held on to it for long as she could. Until we had to sell it to survive. It's now been four years.

I don't have the mental clarity it would take to drive! I'd carine off a car and wonder what that bump was.

So being real with myself I told Rebecca I will not be able to drive until that clarity returns,

In her normal stellar self she says "Just you being able to realize that means it's returning.

You know she's 100% correct!

I'm recovering slowly but recovering none the less!

The only times I ever got hurt (been many) is when I wasn't being realistic with myself.

We as stroke survivors we need to be realistic with ourselves and our limitations. No matter how humbling!

We will recover how ever slight, however long, We will recover!

So many times I hear I want my life back, Said it myself, made myself miserable. Now 6 yrs post stroke I see I will never get the old life back its impossible. The trials of this stroke and recovery has changed my life forever and for the good..

I am a survivor and the things I have learned about life will not allow me to return to the old..Sure some of the things I loved doing are gone but I have adapted to change not easy but no choice.

For the first few years of this I played that pity thing mad at the world, why me. One day got up ,tired of this got to be a better life after stroke. Put the wheelchair in corner picked up walker and started this hard work. Soon I was on cane doing the same thing ,it is not easy by no means but guess what not only was I walking but I felt proud thats why you hear me say "Stand Tall And Proud.. "Its not a secret hid from you its what you want out of life. Do not waste your time in this place its very lonely and nothing there to gain but misery. I am no writer ,not smarted than you ,it takes time to heal ,just got to get that brain thinking right and get up and get it done. Time is on your side you got plenty of it so don't think its got to all come at once work slow and steady it will come.. rt.

4 Years ago today the course of my life changed forever!


IT'S MY SECOND CHANCE BIRTHDAY!


I was for sure supposed to die!
So positive were they I was going to die they would not work on me for 24 hours! They thought why waste resources on a person that was going to die within 24 hours!
They even gave my family a live viewing! A live viewing is when they wheel your gurney mostly dead, into the chapel so the family can say their last goodbye's.
But guess what?
I WAS GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE AT LIFE ON THIS PLANET!
I SURVIVED WHEN I SHOULD HAVE DIED!
So every year my family throws me a Celebration of life!
Today a family BBQ at Spring Lake Park!
GOD I LOVE MY WIFE Rebecca Hensley-Avila my son Ryan Avila and my Mother in law Cynthia Johnson. It is them that give me the ability to be who I am today!
I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A SECOND CHANCE!

STROKE  IDENTIFICATION:
During a BBQ, a woman stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) ....she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Jane went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Jane's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Jane passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Jane would be with us today. Some don't die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE:
Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR. Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.
T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently), (i.e. It is sunny out today.)
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call emergency numberimmediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke - Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

Talking to my old classmates, friends and family.

I need help understanding something please.

About a week ago I started trying to raise funds for Second Chance Stroke Survivors. In that week I had a total of 2 donation.

I'm trying to raise enough funds to be able to hire an Attorney to file the needed paperwork with the Government so I can help stroke survivors around the world even more than I already have. It's my passion in this Second Chance I have been given on this planet.

The way and I see it is if each person I know gave just $20.00 each I could hire the Attorney, file the needed paperwork and start a fund to help stroke survivors around the world in financial need! Just $20.00 can greatly impact a stroke survivors life!

So many times I hear I want my life back, Said it myself, made myself miserable. Now 6 yrs post stroke I see I will never get the old life back its impossible. The trials of this stroke and recovery has changed my life forever and for the good..
I am a survivor and the things I have learned about life will not allow me to return to the old..Sure some of the things I loved doing are gone but I have adapted to change not easy but no choice.
For the first few years of this I played that pity thing mad at the world, why me. One day got up ,tired of this got to be a better life after stroke. Put the wheelchair in corner picked up walker and started this hard work. Soon I was on cane doing the same thing ,it is not easy by no means but guess what not only was I walking but I felt proud thats why you hear me say "Stand Tall And Proud.. "Its not a secret hid from you its what you want out of life. Do not waste your time in this place its very lonely and nothing there to gain but misery. I am no writer ,not smarted than you ,it takes time to heal ,just got to get that brain thinking right and get up and get it done. Time is on your side you got plenty of it so don't think its got to all come at once work slow and steady it will come.. rt.

Mornings like this it hits me just how powerful Second Chance Stroke Survivors has become worldwide!

I'm talking to a stroke survivor sister in Italy Lorenza Tarasconi as if she is sitting across from me.

Stroke took away her voice. Had a stroke at age 47 years old.

STROKE WHEN LIGHTNING STRIKES

Stroke attacks in a blink of an eye.

As fast as lightning hits the earth you hit my life.

Taking everything from me.

Striping me down to the very fiber of who l am as a man.

Stroke you took all of who I thought made me.....me.

As gold is refined by fire so my life is being refined by stroke.

Everything I thought was valuable to me through stroke was found to be false.

The one thing that makes a person 100% fulfilled and complete as a human being on this planet is the complete opposite of what we are told as a young child.

It is when a person gives all they are as a person to someone else.

If they hurt you hurt, they cry, you cry, they need help, you help.

Only than can a man find true fulfillment. Only than can he/she know true peace.

David A. West -- They didn't know the cause of mine, either. I feel ya. It was chalked up to an AVM, or Articular-Venous Malformation (birth defect), but that's only because medical science had no definitive answer. I was only 38, never had high blood pressure, was slender, a working Mom of two young boys, and in [supposedly] prime physical condition. I had no history of drug or alcohol abuse, no cigarette use (ever), and no stroke symptoms in previous years or family history of stroke. Now on the verge of 50, I am determined to make the most of every day. I refuse to acknowledge the fact that I may be a "ticking time bomb," poised to stroke again. If I do, I do. Can't predict the future. However, I will NOT LIVE IN FEAR
